Can you tell us a bit about your role at Tellwell and what a typical day looks like for you?
I oversee projects from initial planning through to final publication, ensuring that timelines, quality standards, and author’s expectations are met. A typical day involves coordinating with authors and internal teams, managing booked appointments and print specifications, addressing publication issues, and making sure each project moves smoothly from concept to completion.
What made you join Tellwell, and what do you enjoy most about working here?
I was introduced to Tellwell through a close friend who previously worked here and spoke very highly of the company and its culture. What I enjoy most about working at Tellwell is the collaborative environment and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects while supporting authors throughout their publishing journey.
As a project manager and printing specialist, what part of the book production process do you find the most rewarding?
Seeing a project come together from concept to finished book. Being involved in both project management and printing allows me to ensure that each title meets quality standards while staying on schedule, and it’s especially fulfilling to know that the final product reflects the author’s vision and hard work.
What are some common printing questions or concerns authors have, and how do you usually help them through those?
Authors often have questions about print quality, paper options, formatting, and timelines. I help by clearly explaining each option, setting realistic expectations, and guiding them through the technical aspects in a straightforward and supportive way. My goal is to make the printing process clear and stress-free, so authors feel confident and informed at every stage.
What’s one behind-the-scenes detail about printing books that authors might find surprising?
How many quality checks and technical adjustments happen before a book is approved for print. Small details—such as file setup, colour options, trim-size selection, and binding specifications—play a significant role in the final result. Ensuring all of these elements align properly helps deliver a high-quality book that meets both industry standards and the author’s expectations.
How do you balance timelines, quality, and author expectations when managing multiple projects?
By maintaining clear communication, setting realistic schedules, and prioritizing tasks effectively. By closely monitoring each project, addressing potential issues early, and keeping authors informed throughout the process, I’m able to ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality or the overall publishing experience.

What skills do you think are most important for your role, and how did you develop them?
Strong organization, clear communication, and attention to detail are essential in my role. I developed these skills through hands-on experience managing multiple projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and working closely with authors and printers. Over time, navigating tight deadlines and resolving production challenges has further strengthened my ability to plan effectively and deliver high-quality results.
Is there a project or book you’ve worked on that you’re especially proud of, and why?
I’ve worked with an author who required additional support due to her age. For each scheduled appointment, her neighbour would join us to help facilitate the discussion and take notes on her behalf. Experiences like this have strengthened my ability to communicate clearly and patiently, with empathy.
I’m especially proud of projects where I was able to guide a book smoothly from production through print while maintaining high quality and meeting tight timelines. Seeing an author hold their finished book for the first time is incredibly rewarding, and knowing I played a role in bringing their vision to life makes these projects particularly meaningful.
What advice would you give authors who are preparing their book for print for the first time?
To allow ample time for the process and to stay open to guidance on formatting and print specifications. Paying attention to details early on and asking questions along the way can make the experience much smoother and more enjoyable.
What do you like to do outside of work when you’re not managing projects or talking about print specs?
I enjoy spending quality time with my family, unwinding by watching dramas, and treating myself to good food. I also enjoy cooking new recipes and going to different places—it’s my favourite way to relax and recharge.
