Tellwell Indigenous Voices Grant: Now Accepting Applications!

Now accepting applications for 2024. July 31 deadline.

Tellwell is now accepting applications for our Indigenous Voices book publishing grant. We are seeking Indigenous authors with a book idea or manuscript who need help getting published.

Tellwell is allocating $10,000 of in-kind services towards one or two book projects. These services will cover things like writing coaching, editing, design and layout, illustrations, printing, distribution, and marketing support. The creation of the Indigenous Voices Grant was announced by Tellwell in Fall 2023.

The deadline for applying for the grant is July 31, 2024. Indigenous authors can apply by submitting a simple form at the link below.

Books can be in any genre, such as:

  • Illustrated children’s books
  • Fiction
  • Nonfiction
  • Memoir
  • Multi-author collaborations

Applications will be shortlisted and the winner(s) chosen in the summer of 2024, enabling the first project(s) to commence in the Fall 2024. The timeline for publishing will depend on the details of the book project. For example, if the author needs help writing the book by working with one of our writing coaches, the publishing timeline will be longer than if the author already has a finished draft ready for professional editing.

Tellwell has worked with many successful and inspiring Indigenous authors, some highlighted in blog posts for Indigenous History months here, here, and here.

We’re looking to build on this success while removing barriers to publishing. The application process is simple: simply fill out a short form with information about your book idea, yourself, and the status of your manuscript.
