The book features nine COVID-19 themes with heart-touching poems relating to the isolation and pain we all felt in early 2020, to the bright and optimistic hope we feel now as we enter the new, vaccinated world.

Popular Montreal talk-show host Tommy Schnurmacher’s life-changing memoir Makeup Tips from Auschwitz: How Vanity Saved my Mother’s Life has been shortlisted as a nominee for the Whistler Independent Book Awards in the Non-Fiction category!

In this charming memoir, Tommy shares the story of growing up with his mother, Olga – a fearless, unpredictable woman who was a prisoner of Auschwitz. With a passing parade of stars like John Lennon, Elizabeth Taylor and Crystal Nacht, and an eccentric cast of supporting characters, this memoir is at once witty and moving.

Finalists will be announced July 16, 2021! Good luck, Tommy!

A mixture of science fiction and mystery, the intriguing coming of age story The Perpetual Now by Toronto author Jerome Bourgault was named a finalist for the First Horizon Award, a finalist for the Eric Hoffer Grand Prize, and received an honourable mention in the Commercial Fiction category with the US Review of Books
